The best endorsement ever

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

This note was found in a box of old files the other day. So near and dear to my heart. Now that it has been found, I will have to find a home for it on my wall.

As I mentioned before, my parents, John and Kathy Thomas, started Green Thumb Landscaping in 1971.

Quality has always, always, always been at the forefront. I was born into it and it stuck with me.

Dad was not someone who handed out praise easily. I don't remember when he wrote this, but it must have been at least 30 years ago. Quality was very important to me then and it is just as important now.

What he says in this note is exactly the same way I feel today. It IS the little things that make the difference. Details are key to a well manicured property. Take the time to do it right and have the right tools for the job.

My mom is also a stickler for quality. She coined the phrase "wine test" in our landscaping company. The "wine test" is the time at the end of every visit when we take a few minutes to walk around your property after we have finished the maintenance. We walk up on the deck and look at your property through your eyes as if you were sitting out there with a glass of wine soaking in your surroundings. We want you to love what you see. No debris in corners, tufts of grass standing up or weeds growing through shrubs... just as perfect as it can be.

My dad passed away far too early but I still feel his presence and hold on to the values that he and my mom instilled in us.

A huge part of wanting to do quality work is from loving what you do. That's why Green Thumb was so successful and that's why I'm here today.

Thanks for the note dad. Love you xoxo
